This might be top 3 sushi for me in the US. I generally try not to eat sushi in landlocked states because I usually am disappointed but this place was legitimately better than most of the coastal restaurants I've had, and even some in Japan, Hong Kong, East Asia. Everything was extremely fresh and clearly prepared with love and attention. The toro absolutely melted the second it hits your tongue. The restaurant has a dark, clubby vibe. It's not my favorite type of scene and our booth was missing a bolt or something so if we moved or the people seated behind us moved, everything moved. Service was attentive, friendly, and very professional. The manager checked in with us mid meal. A very enjoyable experience and a place to treat yourself or celebrate! Things are pricey but worth it. Make sure to get the wagyu stone.
Amazing restaurant Kind of reminded me of Joey's in Woodland Hills Ca . Every inch of this restaurant has been made luxurious ! I accidentally walked into the men's restroom it was the so nice. We got the chefs choice which was so Perfect. Every piece of sushi mouthwatering Five stars
Amazing sushi for being in Southwest Missouri! My wife and I came here for our anniversary, which fell on Memorial Day, and this was the only sushi restaurant open. The choices of mixed drinks is great and reasonably priced, the fish was fresh and everything tasted great! We ordered several rolls, most of which I honestly don't recall the name of. What stood out to me in particular was: 1. Philadelphia roll included tamago (egg). I've never had a Philly roll with tamago, but this was the best rendition of one of the most common rolls around. 2. The Oh My God roll. This baby came out on its own plate and when it arrived our waiter lit it on fire! Besides placing the order we said the roll's name out loud a second time (oh my god, it's on fire!). Once the fire went out, we would have summoned Beetlejuice because we both exclaimed its name a third time. (We did get a friendly piece of advice from our waiter that there's a secret word to get any roll delivered on fire. We took a vow of secrecy though, so I can't post it here.) Friendly, prompt service and never too long of a wait for anything. We will absolutely be returning!
Fancy late night food! For starters, I had: Premium nigiri - 10 piece (5/5) This was delicious, I especially like the mackerel and bass. Soy and wasabi are already in the sushi rice - and the staff will warn you to try a bite first before using any soy sauce. For most, it didn't need any extra soy, but I always like a little extra salt on the salmon and tuna. Just a drop or two works. The only thing that I wasn't used to was the shrimp nigiri. In other sushi places, the shrimp is cooked all the way through. This version was purposefully undercooked, and that just might be how it's done in fancier places. It is interesting, but you might struggle with it if you have texture issues - it was a little rubbery and I definitely prefer the fully cooked version more. The Chilean sea bass was amazing too (4.5/5) I loved the skin in particular, crispy and full of flavor. The bass itself had a hefty portion and it was all good. I thought the miso foam gave it an extra shot of flavor, I liked eating the bubbles. And the mashed potatoes and sauce was good too. This is the first time I ever had sea bass, so I don't know how to feel about it. If you don't really need to try it, I have a feeling the grilled lobster tail would be just as good. Service was great! (4/5) They swoop in the second after you finish to collect your plates. It was impressive, but I'm not sure how to feel about it! I couldn't tell if they just wanted to perform good service or if they were rushing me. In general, they were all very friendly, helpful, and conversational, even if they were in a bit of a hurry. This restaurant is definitely a good late night spot for an expensive date or special occasion.
Excellent, especially for not being located near a major port. Very very fresh Very original Upbeat atmosphere Not cheap, but excellent Friendly, I like to sit at the sushi bar and chat with John the owner Staff very helpful
Came here on a business trip from KC and was really pleased with what a fabulous place Ariake turned out to be. My server Taylor was awesome and provided several helpful recommendations on the rolls. The Akami (blue fin), Unagi (eel) and the J Roll were absolutely amazing! Great atmosphere and vibe. I'll definitely be back on my next trip here.
Like so many other reviews, I too was skeptical of a sushi establishment in the middle of America when I traveled here. I ordered pick up from my hotel across the street and was so pleasantly surprised. I will probably come back to eat at the bar because the ambiance is upscale and swanky. Highly recommend!
I waited a bit, before I wrote this review, to figure exactly how I would frame this place up. There are two things everyone will notice with this place: Setting/ambiance: The place wreaks of a big city, trendy, sleek and way modernistic feel. Price: (4) people and two alcoholic drinks on the tab, it was $231 buckaroos, without the tip. And I don't recall anything too exotic being brought to the table. But this is what you'll get into at this place, as they serve small plates etc. One entree that was excellent: The seas bass. It had an excellent preparation. The seafood soup was quite good and had a complex broth preparation, to get that certain taste. Overall, this place really makes a to-do, in saying how this is flown in; that is xxx grade that. All, quite the hype this place does in their presenting. There will be some small segment in Springfield that are willing to constantly demand this level of perceived quality; and pay this kind of price. And neat as the place looks, I personally (do not) see the place lasting too long in its current form.
Go here for good food or a cool date, or both. Ambiance is awesome, food is fresh, drinks are good, and the staff is friendly. While I ordered a few different things, the Crispy Yasaimono turned out to be exceptionally satisfying. I'm not sure how they were able to convert a meat eater, like me, to enjoy a vegetarian dish the most. Overall, great food and great place. Check it out for sure.
My husband and I have been to this restaurant twice-- and both experiences have been top tier. First time we ate at the bar and Derek gave us plenty of suggestions and was excellent with sake pairings for what we were trying. Second time was for their omakase experience-- this was worth the waiting list!!! Hands down the best meal of my life. We felt welcomed and well taken care of the entire time and everything we had was incredible and really provided the most special dining experience. Nowhere better in Springfield for when you really want a special dining experience!
